In 1978, a group of local musicians active in Muncie Matinee Musicale had dreams of a new performing group in Muncie. An ensemble called the East Central Indiana Community Singers was formed in response to this dream. In 1986, this group changed its name to Masterworks Chorale to help reflect their serious artistic intent.
Currently, Masterworks Chorale is based at Cornerstone Center for the Arts. Our annual concert series plays out in venues all around Muncie, in schools, churches and concert halls. Outreach concerts take us to unusual locations and allow us to collaborate with other partners in our community, including Muncie Symphony Orchestra and Ball State University Choirs. Members of the Chorale have represented East Central Indiana by performing at Carnegie Hall on two occasions.
